So much has been going on and I can’t seem to find the time or inclination to blog about any of it. So here’s my attempt at a random update of our lives.
Jackson is doing very well in 1st grade. He is in the Advanced Reader program and he has gotten 100% on his last three AR tests! His first quarter report card was excellent and he made the honor roll (or at least the 1st grade version of the honor roll) with all satisfactories. His reading level is jumping by leaps and bounds in no time at all. It’s so exciting to watch him learn to read. If you’re like me (and others I’ve spoken to), you don’t remember learning how to read yourself. So actually witnessing the process and seeing all of those “ah-ha” moments is truly amazing.
Cub Scouts is keeping us very busy. The popcorn sale ended and we should be delivering orders very soon. Jackson and the rest of his pack took turns ringing the Salvation Army bell last Saturday. He’s learning a great deal about Community Service through Cub Scouts. Last month, we helped the Marines kick off their Annual Toys for Tots toy drive. That was a lot of fun! The kids got to pick out $10,000 worth of toys to donate. They shopped and helped load up the huge trucks. The kids also got to climb inside the trucks to check them out. Next week, we have our Pack Christmas Party. Busy, busy, busy, but fun, fun, fun!
Jackson went to the dentist this week for a check up and all went well!
Work is going well. We’re getting ready for a week long shutdown which I think everyone is looking forward to and in desperate need of the break!
I am just about ready for Christmas. A few more presents left to buy and wrap. And a ton of baking left to do! I’m giving gift baskets of baked goods to a few people, I have to make something to bring to the Pack Christmas Party, and I have to make cupcakes for Jax to take to school for his birthday! Boy the house sure smells good!
Well, I guess that’s about it for now. I’m sure there’s a lot more to report but I’ve got to get back to work and it’s always best to leave your readers wanting more 😉
Take care and have a great weekend!
